KATHMANDU, Jan 22: Nepal beat Bahrain U23 to lift Bangabandhu Gold Cup football tournament in Bangladesh on Friday.Bimal Gharti Magar, Bishal Rai and Nawayug Shrestha netted for Nepal to claim the title.Nepal took an early lead in the 5th minute with score from Bimal. Bishal doubled the advantage in 87th minute.Nawayug sealed the victory with the final goal through a header in the added time.The win gives a bit of relief to Nepal which is ailing from recent scandals. All Nepal Football Association’s (ANFA) long serving President Ganesh Thapa was banned for 10 years from all football related activities by the FIFA ethics committee. Besides that, five current and former national players including skipper Sagar Thapa were banned for life from football for their involvement in fixing Nepal’s international matches since a couple of years.
