Priyanka Karki is often referred to by the nickname “Prinku”, which was given to her by her close friends. After making a name for herself in the Nepali industry, Karki left for her higher education to pursue a Bachelors degree in Filmmaking to the United States. She finished her degree in 2011 and flew back to Nepal to debut as an actress with Prasanna Poudel’s Mero Best Friend where she plays the female lead. Right after ‘Mero Best Friend’, she started filming for Suresh Darpan Pokhrel’s 3 lovers, which went on to be her first release as Mero Best Friend got postponed.
Priyanka Karki, who won the Best Debut Actress in 2069 and consequently won the Best Actress in 2070, is arguably the most fashionable star recognized for her acting and dancing chops. With “Nai Nabhannu la 2”, which broke the box office collection of “Loot” she is one of the busiest actresses and has even the industry naysayers calling her the “Queen Bee” of Nepali film industry. Her upcoming film Suntali is all set to premier at the “Busan International Film Festival 2014” which premiered movies like “Queen” (Hindi Film), “Jal” and “If Only”. She is one of the few celebrities in Nepal to have her Facebook fan page verified by Facebook as an official one. And amongst the numerous fan made pages, her official fan page has 156469 and counting fans, making her, undeniably, one of the most popular and loved faces in Nepal.
