The agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) took out baton rally in various Tarai districts on Saturday as per their pre-announced protest programme. Rallies were organised in Sarlahi, Saptari, Bara, Morang and Bardiya, among other Tarai districts. At a time when the protracted Madhes protest has been weakened in the southern plains, hundreds of SLMM protesters wielding batons participated in the rallies. They reached district headquarters of various Tarai districts on motorcycles, tractors and buses from their villages. The rallies turned into corner assemblies. Addressing the gatherings, some of the Morcha leaders vowed to continue the protest programmes until their 11-point demand is addressed. -
