Tough talk with Bishnu Prasad Paudel (Finance Minister) on 25 February 2016

Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel who is currently in New Delhi to prepare ground for Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli’s impending visit has reassured the Indian leaders that the political parties in Nepal will soon give shape to a political mechanism that will address remaining issues raised by agitating Madhesi political parties.Two of the major demands, ensuring proportionate/inclusive representation and instituting electoral constituencies based on population density- as demanded byPoudel has already met with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Internal Affairs Minister Raj Nath Singh and Finance Minister Arun Kumar Jaitley in New Delhi.In the meantime, talking to Kantipur Daily Finance Minister Poudel claims that Nepal-India relationship must have a fresh start following the blockade of border and the agitation of Madhesh parties. “Whatever happened in the past is a history. We need to focus on what happens in future. We should be more focused on ensuring uninterrupted trade between the two countries and problems related to border blockage need to be sorted out at the earliest”, he says. -
