The voting process at the 13th General Convention of Nepali Congress is underway to choose a new leadership here at City Hall on Sunday. Voting which began at 8.00 am will be held until 5 pm. Vote counting for the party president is scheduled to begin immediately after the voting ends while vote counting for other positions will begin after the result of the vote counting for the president. As many as 3,218 representatives will cast their votes to elect a party president, three office-bearers and 64 Central Working Committee (CWC) members. NC Acting President Ramchandra Paudel, Senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula are vying for the post of party president.

The winner of the NC president will be announced through runoff elections if any of the candidates fails to secure more than 50 percent of the votes in the first round of elections. A total of 312 candidates are vying for 64 positions, including three office bearers and CWC members of the party.
